The Venus Women in Business Awards were held at Lighthouse – Poole’s centre for the Arts – on Friday 18th September 2015.
14 winners were whittled down from over 300 entries, through semi-finals and finals before the presentation ceremony.
My Babylog and My Weddinglog M.D. Barbara Fowler (2nd from left) was nominated for “Networker of the Year”, sponsored by Playgolf Bournemouth and – we are absolutely delighted to announce – she brought home the award!!
“Barbara Fowler is the most tenacious person I know… she NEVER gives up… she NEVER gives in and she NEVER (ever) takes “No” for an answer!”
It’s a great achievement to not only win but also to be recognised by other business people for her contribution within Bournemouth and Dorset networks.
The Venus Awards are often referred to as the “Business Women’s Oscars” so true to form Barbara made a gift of personalised Oscar statues to other friends who were nominated… well why should Hollywood A-listers only get one?!
In June My Babylog and My Weddinglog were featured in Mags4Dorset in an interview with Janine Pulford.
The magazine ran a competition alongside the article and we are pleased to confirm the winner.
Jaqueline de Trafford met up recently with our MD Barbara Fowler, who presented the My Babylog Memory Chest in Jaqueline’s choice of colour – blue and cream – along with a “My 1st Heartbeat” recorder and an “Inkless Hand and Foot print kit” too.
The chest will be on it’s way to Kent, arriving in plenty of time for her nephew Stuart and his wife Karen, who are expecting their second child next month.

If you read articles, whether online or in print, you are unlikely to avoid the overnight frenzy about the new constructed-reality television programme from the producers of “The Only Way Is Essex” or TOWIE, and “Made In Chelsea”.
“Close To The Edge” – a new Electric Ray production for BBC Four – is scheduled to air later this Summer and since the news broke, the “cast” photo has been featured by OK! magazine online, The Telegraph (twice!), The Guardian, The Standard, The Daily Mail, Metro News, The Radio Times and many many more publications.
Close To The Edge is set in Bournemouth with all of the cast from the local area. The six-part series will follow the cast’s everyday lives with a focus on more serious issues than those reality programmes usually follow – including education, divorce, sexuality, gender roles, and yes about death too. Speaking about Close To The Edge, BBC Four Channel Editor Cassian Harrison said: “It reveals the passions, predilections and prejudices that beat as strongly in the hearts of the over-60s as any other generation.”
Barbara is currently looking over my shoulder and would like you to know she “is the baby of the group” !!
